"I remember when Daddy took us to Coney Islan," she turned and said to me one day. "And it was a lot like it is today, except there were a lot more games where you'd throw darts at balloons or baseballs into milk bottles. Well, I waited in line for the ferris wheel, a little girl of seven. I waited all by myself like a big girl. Daddy said he'd wait at the hot dog stand for me after he took Tommy to ride the horses. Tommy just kept riding the horses, and I got out of line, because I got scared. The man taking money for the ride saw me crying and said I should wait until I wasn't afraid. And I left looking for Daddy, but he wasn't anywhere. I was lost in Coney Island. The big white roller coaster went screaming down the hills. Some teens kissed under an umbrella. The parachutes came down with a jolt. Nobody was at the hot dog stand, I couldn't find it. It had moved. I just kept thinking, 'he's left me.. he's left me.'"
